The North West England and North Wales Coastal Group was set up to bring together experts from organisations across the region to look at some of the environmental issues that affect our coast, including flooding and erosion. The Group meets regularly to look at appropriate ways to tackle these issues in a joined up way, while always considering the economic and social effects any action may have.

The Group is made up of representatives from Coastal Local Authorities, the Environment Agency, Natural England, Countryside Council for Wales, Cadw and English Heritage. Links to the organisations websites can be found here.

At the moment much of the Group's work is focussed on producing the Shoreline Management Plan 2 and making sure that you have an opportunity to influence what it will look like. You can find out more about this in the Shoreline Management Plan 2 section of this website.

We have also been working closely with the Environment Agency to produce the National Coastal Erosion Risk Maps which will be released in June 2010 and will show predicted rates of erosion along the coast.
